Pastoral Council Meeting
Monday, May 29, 2007
Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m. with opening prayer and meditation
after we had a group picture taken for the Pictorial Directory.
Present were: Jim, Deanna, Fr. Tom and Mary Lou and Lynn
Absent were: John and Bill Resigned
Minutes from the previous meeting were amended to accepted with a change
to the date of the next meeting. After this correction the minutes were accepted.
Committee Reports
Liturgy Committee - Discussion of the Easter celebration activities and now Ordinary Time. Looking for ways to improve the "ordinary" season. This is the year of Luke.
Faith Formation:
No May meeting.
June meeting not set up as yet.
Lisa resigned and a replacement is needed. The job description will be advertised in the Catholic Spirit web site. Hopefully this person can be hired and in place before the new year begins in September.
Social Justice Committee
As John was absent there was no report.
The Communications Committee continues to be a work in progress. Minutes from the various ministries are now being posted on the website for those interested in these activities.
Parish & Community Activities - Anita Thompson resigned and Mary Capra will take the Chairman position.
This is the 3rd year for National Nite Out - August 7 in the County Park. St. Gen's will sponsor this activity and would like to have better participation from the entire community. The Park is free for everyone that day.
Free Will offering for picnic and card parties so hopefully more will participate.
Lenten retreat is scheduled for February 4th. There will be two sessions as that worked well for the 2007 Retreat.
Discussion of a Horticulture Day is in the works. This would be an event that had classes to teach people how to attract birds, butterflies etc. Nothing concrete yet.
October 6 is the next Cards & Cuisine. There will be a Golf tournament but not date has been set. Dave Mliner has chaired this for the last 5 or 6 years and will do so again this year.
Pictorial Directory - All family pictures are completed and now we are working on the 20 special activities pages. The plan is to have this completed by the end of June.
Other Business
Capital Campaign discussion and the need for the next campaign. Many people are surprised that we need another phase to complete the payment on the new building.
Perhaps a statement from Father or the Building Committee to enlighten people on why this is necessary.
We have 106 new parishioners since we began the first campaign.
With no further business do discuss, the meeting closed with a prayer.
Our next meeting will be June 25 at 7 p.m. in the Rectory.
Opening prayer will be Deanna.
Meditation will be Lynn
Closing prayer will be Jim
Meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Lou Wilharber, secretary
