From Father Greg

Dear Friends,
“John 3:16.” You see it written on signs at many sporting events. I love that; it’s such an important part of the Bible. The Gospel of John emphasizes the divinity of Jesus and the love of Jesus. We hear in the first John, an important notion about God: God is love and those who live in love, live in God, and God lives in them. The Church in her wisdom has us thinking about God on this Trinity Sunday. God is a mystery. As St. Augustine said, “If you can fully understand it, it’s not God.”
I would like to talk about the real basics about God. Number 1 - there is one. Number 2 - it ain’t you!
John 3:16 bears reflecting on – “God so loved the world that he gave his only son.” God loves us not because we are good, but because God is good. We are made in the image of God. God is kind, understanding, patient, merciful, loving, and forgiving. How are we doing being made in God’s image and likeness?
Humbly,
Fr. Greg Esty

Helpful Resources
As parishioners of St. Genevieve, we commit ourselves to refresh our participation of Liturgy through attentive listening to God's Word, in raising our voices in prayer and song, and in reverent reception of the Body and Blood of Christ. We pledge to work for justice for those inside and outside of our boundaries and to be instruments of healing in our families and in our community.
