From Father Greg

Dear Friends,
The end is here. The Liturgical Year has ended with the feast day of the Solemnity of the Lord, Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. The feast day started in 1925. We had just come through World War 1 and people were worried about the growth of secularism. People wondered where God was when there was so much evil and suffering in the world? Pope Pius XI instituted this feast day because he saw that something needed to be done to help people restore their hope and trust in God and to let go all of the concerns of secular culture.
It is a good time to examine who our king is. We pray the First Commandment: I am the Lord your God. You shall not have strange gods before me. Take a look at your screens, your checkbook, your calendar. Who is your king? Who is ruling your heart? As we end one year, we start a new year which gives us opportunities to reset the priorities of our heart. To start the new year, I invite you to come to the Thanksgiving Day Mass at 9am in Hugo to count the blessings our Lord has bestowed on us. I also invite you to donate to our local food shelves to share our blessings with others.
Peace,
Fr. Greg

Helpful Resources
As parishioners of St. Genevieve, we commit ourselves to refresh our participation of Liturgy through attentive listening to God's Word, in raising our voices in prayer and song, and in reverent reception of the Body and Blood of Christ. We pledge to work for justice for those inside and outside of our boundaries and to be instruments of healing in our families and in our community.
