I love to sing! And, singing is a way for me to share the gift God gave me.  When I started to cantor, many years ago, I can tell you I was scared to death! It took a while for me to get comfortable but eventually it happened and I am very grateful. Singing is a wonderful way to praise God. An added bonus is you become more aware and involved in the Mass. Double bonus: To Sing is to Pray Twice – can’t beat that!

I recently felt called to help out the parish more and thought about helping out with one of the committees or Parish Council. I joined the Liturgy Committee because I was asked, the time commitment was something I was comfortable with, and, being part of the choir, it seemed like a natural fit.  Every time I have volunteered at St Genevieve’s I’ve learned more about our parish and have been blessed with new friends and a deeper connection to our parish community. If you even have one hour a week to give, consider sharing your time and talents with the parish. As Hillel,a first century Jewish scholar said, “If not you, then who? If not now, when?”

I serve for several reasons. Most importantly, Jesus asks us to serve and shows through his example the importance of serving others. As the parent of two young girls, I want to be an example of service in our community and within our church. I serve as a follower of Jesus and to give my daughters an example of serving others.
