FOOD SHELF SPECIAL COLLECTION

There will be a special monetary collection for area food shelves this weekend. Any donations will be split evenly between Centennial Community Food Shelf and Hugo Good Neighbors Food Shelf. You may donate online directly to the food shelves through givemn.org or donate online through our parish here.

 

REGISTER FOR THE LENTEN RETREAT

"The Mass: Spirit and Mission" with Erin O'Leary

Saturday, March 29, 9am-noon Register by Wednesday at stgens.org/retreat. This retreat will deepen our understanding and engagement in the Lord's Supper. Doors open at 8:30am for check-in and refreshments. You may register and pay at the door. Men and women, parishioners and non-parishioners are invited to attend.

 

VOLUNTEER AT THE SHELTER

St. Genevieve is hosting St. Andrew's Family Shelter March 30-April 5. There are a few shifts available: 6 dinner shifts (Sunday, Friday, Saturday), 2 overnight shifts (Tuesday), 1 Craft Corner (Tuesday), 1 provide dinner (Saturday). Get details at stgens.org/safs.

 

FIRST COMMUNION PRAYER PARTNERS

You are invited to take a prayer stick at the entrances of the worship sites. A name of one of our youth preparing for First Communion is written on the stick. Pray for them and perhaps prepare a note of encouragement that can be dropped off at the Parish Office by April 25.

 

STATIONS OF THE CROSS

Fridays at 6:00pm at the Centerville church on Sorel Street next to the Parish Office (NOT the Parish Community Center). Note-- the April 11 Stations will be Mary's Stations at the Parish Community Center at 8:30am (Mass at 8:00am) and 6:00pm.

 

LITTLE BLACK BOOKS

Little Black Books are still available at the worship sites. A $1 donation to help offset the cost is welcome. You can also get the Lenten reflections online at this link.

FISH FRY FRIDAYS

The Men's Club served 599 dinners last week. Be sure to find out for yourself why the dinner is so popular!

Serving time is 4:30-7:30pm at the Hugo site March 21, 28, April 4 & 11.

Adults: $14, Seniors 60+: $11, Children 6-12 $9, Children 5 & under free.

Icelandic Cod, Baby Red Potatoes, French Fries, Cole Slaw, Macaroni-n-Cheese, Rolls, Pickles, Cookies and Beverage

PASTORAL COUNCIL-MARK YOUR CALENDAR

If you have ever considered serving on the Pastoral Council, the Council invites you to their April 8 meeting to find out more about the responsibilities and rewards of being a Pastoral Council member. There will be five open positions on July 1.

 

PARTY PLANNING

There is a need for leads as plans are beginning to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Fr. Greg's Ordination. If you would like to be a lead for Advertising, Media (pictures), Decor or Food, please let the Parish Office know.

The next planning meeting is Thursday, April 10. The party will be June 29.

Don't worry if you can't be a lead, other help will be needed as the party date gets closer!

 

GROWING THROUGH LOSS

You are invited to a series of sessions offering information and support for those who have lost a loved one. Sponsored by local churches, Growing Through Loss is held at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Mounds View on Mondays, 6:45-9pm, beginning March 31.

CATHOLIC SERVICES APPEAL-CHECK RECEIVED

The parish received a rebate check of $8,908 from the 2024 Catholic Services Appeal. This represents 50% of what was donated above our goal. As of March 18, we are at 40% of reaching our 2025 goal with 79 households donating. Scan the QR code or click on this link to donate today. You may also put your donation in the collection basket. Wednesday Lenten Small Groups met for the first time yesterday. You can still join in. Five ninety-minute lessons remain. One session begins at 8:45am at the Parish Community Center and one at 6:30pm in Fortin Hall. The topic is the Gospel of Luke, Part 1. Get more details here: stgens.org/small-group.

WELCOME

Welcome to new parishioners Bob and Joni Wirtz.

Welcome to Bryan Carlson, Samuel Jenkins, Tyler Kotzmacher and Carol Seisaas who were presented at the Cathedral March 9 during the Rite of Election. These four adults are enrolled in our Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) program and are preparing for full initiation into the sacraments at the Easter Vigil.

Novice and experienced quilters are welcome to gather at the Parish Community Center Tuesday, March 18 at 9:30am.
