Lent

Lent

Lent is a 40 day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. It's a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection at Easter. During Lent, we seek the Lord in prayer by reading Sacred Scripture; we serve by giving alms; and we practice self-control through fasting. We are called not only to abstain from luxuries during Lent, but to a true inner conversion of heart as we seek to follow Christ's will more faithfully. Rice Bowl

Join our faith community—and nearly 13,000 Catholic communities across the United States—in a transformative Lenten journey with Catholic Relief Service (CRS) Rice Bowl. Pick up your family’s CRS Rice Bowl at the worship sites or make your own "bowl." During the 40 days of Lent, we will reflect on the impact of global hunger and climate change on vulnerable communities around the word, and we will pray, fast and give alms to help our sisters and brothers in need. Visit crsricebowl.org to learn more.
